Milestones – Celebrating everyday achievements rather than major life events, with travellers rewarding themselves for small wins such as finishing a project or surviving a busy week.

Hobbies – Turning to nature and slower pursuits like birdwatching or fishing to escape the daily rush and reconnect with the outdoors.

Romantasy – Escaping into fantasy-inspired destinations filled with castles, forests and mythical themes that mirror the rising popularity of the “romantasy” genre.

Turbulence – Using travel to test relationship compatibility, from romantic partners to friends or colleagues, in real-world settings.

Glowcations – Combining travel and wellness, as travellers seek destinations offering skincare treatments, spa retreats and restorative activities.

PastPorts – Merging nostalgia with technology by recreating old family photographs and connecting with personal or ancestral history through travel.

Humanoids – Embracing robotic assistance in accommodation, as tech-driven travellers look for futuristic stays featuring AI and automation.

Rewired – Reinventing the road trip through AI-powered matchmaking that connects like-minded travellers for shared adventures.

Destined – Aligning travel with astrology and spirituality, from sacred site visits to trips planned around celestial events.

From Manaus in Brazil to Kochi in India, each trend is accompanied by a suggested destination that embodies its spirit — whether it’s finding peace in nature, reconnecting with heritage, or exploring cutting-edge technology.

James Waters, Chief Business Officer at Booking.com, said: “In 2026, travel will become an expression of who people truly are, with trips built around personal passions and niche interests. Travellers are experimenting more than ever — from testing relationships to embracing technology and spiritual journeys.”
