About 86% of Indians said they consider it important to maximise travel rewards when planning their next vacation, while 82% intend to use credit card points to cover travel expenses in 2025.
Nearly two-thirds (64%) plan to book their next holiday only after earning a specific amount of points.
The report shows that 67% of Indians choose destinations based on where their credit card points or loyalty benefits can be best utilised, while 81% use points to offset costs such as dining or local experiences during travel.
A growing number — 82% — also combine benefits from multiple loyalty programs, such as credit cards, airlines, or hotels, to enhance value.
Affluent travellers, the report notes, are redefining the idea of premium travel, placing greater emphasis on convenience, protection, and personalised care rather than traditional luxury. Features such as airport lounge access, concierge assistance, global support, and travel insurance are now seen as essential.
According to American Express, premium payment cards — such as the Platinum Charge Card — are catering to this shift by offering integrated benefits across travel, lifestyle, and rewards.
Beyond points and perks, Indian travellers are also seeking unique, meaningful experiences: 92% said they look for one-of-a-kind items during trips that remind them of their journey and create stories to share with friends and family.
