India managed to salvage a nine-wicket win over hosts Australia in the third one-day international at the Sydney Cricket Ground to avoid a series whitewash.

The attention now turns to the five-match T20I series, which gets underway on October 29.

Ahead of the series in the shortest format of the game, Australian legend Adam Gilchrist was asked about one Indian player the Aussies should be afraid of and his prediction for the series.

While many would have picked Abhishek Sharma, the Gilly went for Arshdeep.

“I think Arshdeep Singh, he’s quite venomous with the ball at the top of the innings and at the end of the innings. I think he is India’s leading wicket-taker in the T20 format in International cricket. So, I think he’s someone who the Aussies need to be mindful of,” Gilchrist said.

Arshdeep Singh did not play in the 3rd ODI, but in the first two games, which India lost, he picked up three wickets at an average of 24.

Abhishek, on the other hand, was awarded ICC Player of the Month in September for his outstanding performance in the Asia Cup. He amassed 314 runs over seven matches, boasting an average of 44.85 and a strike rate of 200. The left-handed dasher played a pivotal role in securing India’s victory in the tournament, earning him the Asia Cup Player of the Tournament title.

When asked for a prediction, Gilchrist replied: “Let’s go 3-2″, but did not specify in favour of which team.
