Originally constructed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) around four decades ago, T2 was temporarily closed in April this year to undergo extensive renovation works. The upgraded terminal now boasts an annual capacity of 15 million passengers, enhancing the airport’s overall efficiency and comfort level.
IGIA, the largest airport in India, comprises three terminals (T1, T2 and T3) and four runways, managing over 1,300 flight movements daily.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, Chief Executive Officer of Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), said the airport’s total annual passenger handling capacity now exceeds 100 million.
DIAL, a consortium led by GMR Group, operates and manages IGIA under a public-private partnership model.

On March 20, DIAL announced that the expanded Terminal 1 (T1) can now handle 40 million passengers annually, while Terminal 3 (T3) is equipped to accommodate 45 million passengers per year.

With T2’s reopening, IGIA strengthens its position as a major international aviation hub, supporting the growing demand for both domestic and international air travel in the National Capital Region.
