Xbox is working on the next-gen console that is tipped to be more powerful than the Sony PS 6 model but will it also be costlier?
The next Xbox version could run on Windows 11 out of the box
Xbox is working on the next-gen gaming console and the company has a warning for gamers as well as some exciting news for them. The next Xbox version (Xbox Two?) is going to focus on being very premium and offer a very high-end curated experience.
We recently saw the first Xbox handheld device from Asus ROG family that runs on Windows 11 and it seems Xbox is slowly inclining to take the same path with the regular consoles as well.
Sarah Bond, President at Xbox also pointed out that the next version of Xbox will not be locked to a single games store which means third-party game titles could be accessible because of the openness provided by the platform.
Next Xbox To Be Costly: Big Mistake?
The Xbox chief has indicated that the next-gen console will be costlier than the current versions and the company intends to target the premium users who would be willing to pay the price for the product. Bond also hinted that the handheld device and its pricing is showing us some of the thinking behind its revised strategy, which will surely become a concern for Xbox fan boys who would be eager to see the next PS 6 rival launch in the market.
The other premium side of the Xbox experience could be Microsoft’s push for AI to the gaming arena. Sony has already shared its own roadmap for the product and its advanced features with AI at the forefront of these upgrades.
Xbox has raised some big claims about the Xbox console that apparently is going to be more powerful than Sony’s PS 6 version but its launch is not expected at least until 2027. Having Windows as the base platform allows Xbox to support Steam and even Epic Games store which also tempts users to consider the higher price for such access.
While all this sounds exciting, Xbox will have an even tougher fight with Sony if the price of the new console does not translate into significant hardware bump, flexible software support and a wider game catalogue.
