Apple and SpaceX to partner for satellite internet?
Apple and SpaceX have not worked together for satellite internet support on iPhones but that could change next year, at least going by the details in a new report. Apple and Elon Musk’s SpaceX have not seen eye to eye with regards to the technology, and the iPhone maker has worked with Globalstar to power its SOS emergency features that work via satellite.
But soon Starlink internet could be available on iPhones, as mentioned by The Information in a report this week. The piece gives multiple reasons for Apple and SpaceX to join hands for the iPhone 18 series in 2026.
Apple To Finally Get Starlink Internet
It is not like iPhones can’t work with Starlink internet but you need to be tied up to T-Mobile in the US to gain access. Apple has never signed up for a deal with SpaceX that gives you all-over support and this report suggests that could change with the iPhone 18 Pro model next year.
This would be a big deal for both the companies and unlock Starlink to work aggressively across major markets. Apple will have another big feather in its cap to tempt people to buy the Pro versions, and the hardware support for Starlink makes the change and upgrade inevitable.
Elon Musk has talked about ambitions to make Starlink available for direct-to-cell connectivity, along with high-speed satellite internet. And having billions of iPhone users on the roster is a win-win for both the parties, as well as the consumers.
We should be hearing more on the rumoured deal in the coming months and how Apple could have a trump card on its hands if the service could be made available to iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max buyers free of cost for a few years.
Starlink is also close to launching in India and multiple reports suggest the service will be available around early 2026. The company is likely to price its satellite internet differently from other regions and focus on tapping the less serviced remote areas in the country.
