Foldable iPhone is expected next year from Apple but the iPad version faces more issues and challenges which could delay its launch.

Apple’s foldable OLED panel is becoming a tough nut to crack
Apple’s product delays have a new casualty and this time it is being linked to the foldable iPad model that was expected to launch in the next few years. But a new report says the company is still working on the foldable panel with its supplier and that could delay its launch by four years. Yes, the first iPad in the foldable avatar could be missing from the market at least until 2029.
This new device is claimed to feature a gigantic 18.8-inch screen in the unfolded state that makes it bigger than most laptops that you get in the market.
Apple has reportedly signed up with Samsung Display division for the foldable panels that will be offered on its foldable iPhone in the next few years. We are excited to see how iOS and other Apple platforms evolve and adapt to the foldable form factor.
iPad Foldable Delayed And It Will Be Costly
The new report by Bloomberg shares the worrying news about the foldable lineup for Apple, which should be making its debut with the iPhone Fold in 2026. While the work on other models are facing varied challenges, including the race to have the parts ready in time for the device to hit the production stage.
iPads as a foldable device does make sense especially if Apple wants to continue with the iPad Mini lineup that seems to be the ideal form factor for a foldable iPad. Apple is likely to count on LG and Samsung for the foldable display panels, unless it also decides to go with BOE which has supplied the panels for the OnePlus Open foldable.
Apple doesn’t have a final design for the product yet which also explains the delay in making the product and getting all the parts in place.
However, the report also points out that Apple is not going to cut back on the materials for the product and it even wants to keep the crease to a minimum. All this means the iPad foldable model is tipped to be priced well over $2,500 (Rs 2.10 lakh approx) because of the high-end OLED foldable panel being developed by Samsung Display and also the focus on making it weigh under 1 kg with all of the parts in place on the prototype version.
