WhatsApp iOS 26 version for iPhone users will be getting the new Liquid Glass effect and its beta testing has started.

WhatsApp is finally getting the Liquid Glass iOS 26 change
Apple introduced the new Liquid Glass effect with the iOS 26 update for iPhone users and gradually we are seeing other apps adopt to the new interface. WhatsApp is the latest platform testing its own variations with the recent WhatsApp iOS beta version with select users, which should be rolling out for everyone once the bugs are fixed.
Apple has offered the iOS 26 SDK which makes it easy for apps like WhatsApp and Instagram to adopt the new design interface and seamlessly fit into the new iOS 26 version for iPhone users.
Liquid Glass Update For WhatsApp Is Here
The iOS 26 update has one of the biggest UI changes for iPhone users in the form of the liquid glass interface, which as the name suggests, has a glass-like effect while you scroll across the screen and icons.
The details about the new iOS 26 update for WhatsApp comes via reliable platform WaBetaInfo this week, where the tipster also shares the first look of the new WhatsApp version that iPhone 17 and other users will be getting soon.
The report says the iOS 26 update for WhatsApp adds dynamic transparency, depth effects and fluid interactions which aligns with the philosophy of Liquid Glass on iPhones. The tipster points out the new design makes the tab bar appear like floating above the main content, and the background reflects to mirror the glass-like effect.
The release is basically testing the new design changes, one of the biggest on WhatsApp for iPhones, so we expect the platform to ease into the full rollout which should happen in the next few weeks or months.
iOS 26 update is gradually making its way to iPhone users, including the new 17 series and iPhone Air models. But some of them haven’t warmed up to the new changes or liked it altogether. Apple seems to have heard those concerns and decided to give them more flexibility to reduce the transparency levels of the Liquid glass effect or even disable it.
How To Disable iOS 26 Liquid Glass Design On Your iPhone
- Open Settings in your iPhone
- Tap on Accessibility
- Scroll down to Display & Text Size
- Enable the toggle for Reduce Transparency
- You can even Enable Increase Contrast for better readability
Now the iOS 26 Liquid Glass effect will be reduced. Apple is also giving you more options in Accessibility if the new design changes don’t catch your interest.
