Apple’s MacBook Pro M5 was introduced in October along with the iPad Pro M5 version but now the company has some big plans for 2026 that are being gradually revealed. MacBooks will be getting an OLED upgrade along with a touch display something that both Apple and Steve Jobs have denied for years.

The new report even suggests Apple is going to bring this upgraded (and costly) MacBook Pro model as early as 2026. Earlier it was mentioned that Apple will have the MacBook Pro with touchscreen going into production in late 2026 but the details give us a more exciting timeline.

OLED MacBooks With Touch: It’s Coming

The report by Bloomberg adds more details about the big MacBook upgrade and what buyers can expect. It says along with OLED display and touchscreen support, Apple will also change the front of the screen with a punch hole for the camera. These changes are drastic but long overdue since 2021 when the M1 series Macs were given a design overhaul.

The new model will be using the M6 chips which hints at a late 2026 (around October) release for the product. The company is expected to trial the touchscreen version with the pricier MacBook Pro initially and consider extending the support to other Pros and Air models based on the consumer response.

Apple has been making some unorthodox decisions and the touch MacBook Pro seems like it could be at the top of that list. We have seen the brand launch iPhones in orange colour, MacBooks in blue colour, so their strategy has evolved.

Having said that, adding the feature will undoubtedly make it more expensive and this could mean that Apple will have two different versions of the Pro model, one offered without and one with a touch screen.

Windows laptops have supported touch display for years and Apple has ridiculed that option but the company will probably have to chew its pride while making this new product that might fetch a lot more money.

Before that we could see Apple introduce its first budget MacBook version which is reportedly going to use the A18 family chipset from the iPhones.
