Dhanteras 2025 witnessed strong customer demand across the country, with sales volumes matching last year’s levels and overall value rising by over 25%. The buying momentum came despite a sharp correction in gold prices after a record-breaking rally.
In the International spot market, gold was down 0.94 per cent to trade at $4,249.95 per ounce. Silver, however, saw a sharp correction with a fall of 3.84 per cent to trade at $51.91 per ounce.
According to the All India Sarafa Association, gold of 99.9% purity jumped by Rs 3,200 on Friday to hit an all-time high of Rs 1,34,800 per 10 grams.
In the local bullion market, gold of 99.5% purity slipped by over Rs 3,000 to Rs 1,31,010 per 10 grams (inclusive of all taxes) after touching a record high of Rs 1,34,200 in the previous session.
Extending losses for the second consecutive session, silver prices also dropped by Rs 7,000 on Saturday to Rs 1,72,000 per kilogram (inclusive of all taxes).
The metal had settled at Rs 1,72,000 per kg on Friday.
Prices of the yellow metal have surged over 60% this year, far exceeding expectations and showing little sign of cooling. Now trading at an all-time high of over Rs 1,30,000 per 10 grams, gold’s rally has been fuelled by strong safe-haven demand, aggressive central bank purchases, a weakening rupee, and expectations of further rate cuts by the US Federal Reserve.
In Mumbai, the price of 24-carat gold stood at Rs 1,30,860 per 10 grams, while 22k gold was available at Rs 1,19,950 per 10 grams. These figures reflect gold’s closing price on Friday.

Silver may see an upside of around 20% over the next one year, with prices expected to reach $60 per ounce, according to the latest outlook by Emkay Wealth Management, the wealth and advisory arm of Emkay Global Financial Services.
