Windows 10 support ends this week which means Microsoft will have people upgrading to new PCs or continue risking their old ones.
It is October 14, 2025 which means the official Windows 10 support ends today and this means millions of PC users across the globe will have a couple of options; either they can buy the updates for the Windows 10 version or upgrade to a new Windows 11 PC altogether.

The official support deadline was shared a few years back, and many believed that Microsoft would have to extend the timeline because of the number of PCs still running on the older version.

You could also say that Microsoft has found a clever way to make people upgrade to Windows 11 PC (spending around a lakh) which may sound easy but not viable for everyone still using Windows 10 on their system.

The ESU program for the regular Windows users offers one year support which costs them $30 (Rs 2,550 approx) which is quite nominal. We’re not sure how much people in India will have to pay for the extension.

You can redeem 1000 Microsoft Reward points, for which the company says you need a Microsoft account and earn points by using Bing to search the web, shop at the Microsoft Store, play Xbox games, and complete other tasks.

Windows users can also get a free extension by backing up all their data to the Windows Backup cloud app. There are no free lunches these days but Microsoft is at least giving you a good deal for the meal
