Apple TV is now the name for the streaming app and the device. Surely not?

Apple TV+ is the streaming platform for the company that started as an Apple-only platform but now available across Android devices as well.

This week, the company has made one of its exclusive movies available on the streaming app, which also gets branded to be called Apple TV. Yes, we were not sure about the change initially but Apple TV+ will now be called just Apple TV, no Plus. The news was shared in a press release by the company where the actual highlight was about the movie.

Apple TV+ Rebrand Announced: What Happens Now?

Apple TV is the new name for the streaming platform which is the same as the smart device that people use to connect with their TVs. The company release claims the change (or not) is part of a new “vibrant identity” which suggests the new Apple TV device launch could carry a different branding itself.

We do hope that some kind of change will happen, otherwise it is very unlike Apple to have a strategy where two products (software and hardware) have the same name. The F1 movie got a lot of mileage since its theatrical release, starring Brad Pitt and is now going to be available to a wider audience. Apple TV streaming platform is priced at $12.99 per month for users in the US but those in India can sign up for just Rs 99 per month.

Apple also has other big plans in place for October 2025 with the last event of the year tipped to happen in the next few days. We have been hearing some murmurs about the October launches, and it seems that day will be revealed soon. The M5 chipset is likely to be at the centre of most of the big products to be announced.

The lineup is reportedly going to bring the M5 iPad Pro version, the base M5 MacBook Pro model with a 14-inch display and a new Vision Pro headset which might surprise quite a few. There is no news about a new Apple TV device launching at the event so the company could reserve it for the early 2026 launch event.
