A techie who knows scuba diving needed tech to help rescue him

Apple Watch rescue stories are not a rarity which tells you how useful the device has become for people in different situations. The latest episode involves a Mumbai-based techie who went scuba diving with the Apple Watch Ultra strapped on and had to thank the Apple device to rescue him from a dangerous and a fatal incident.

The 26-year-old techie named Kshitij Zodape who is not a rookie scuba diver by any means, faced some issues with the equipment underwater which could have led to a major accident. But Zodape had the Watch Ultra on his side, quite literally. 

Apple Watch Saves Diver: What He Said 

Zodape went quite deep into the Bay Of Bengal when all of a sudden one of his diving equipment became loose. This got him moving upwards to the surface of the sea and the pace of the ascent would have been fatal. 

That’s where the Apple Watch Ultra on his wrist was able to detect the sudden rise in elevation and warned him about its possible impact on his lungs. So, when he was unable to stop himself from the ascent, the Watch Ultra alerted the nearby instructor who quickly came to help him and eventually prevented a big mishap in the middle of nowhere.

Zopade was amazed at the power of the Watch Ultra and claimed he didn’t even know the device had this level of safety built into it. He even wrote a letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook, thanking for the product and saving his life. Much to his surprise, the Apple chief responded to the email, “I’m so glad your instructor heard the alarm and quickly assisted you. Thanks so much for sharing your story with us. Be well.”
