India beat the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs on Saturday (October 4) to win the first Test. In the red-ball match played at Narendra Modi Stadium, the visitors could only manage to score 146 runs in the second innings after conceding a lead of 286 runs in the first innings. For India, Ravindra Jadeja picked up four wickets for 54 runs in 13 overs, and three West Indies batters were sent back to the pavilion by Mohammed Siraj.
But despite the win over the Roston Chase-led side, India remained at third position in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 points table. But their PCT% is now up from 46.67 to 55.56.

The West Indies, on the other hand, remained sixth in the WTC 2025-27 points table. The Caribbeans have lost all four matches played so far in the ongoing WTC cycle.
The second Test of the ongoing two-match series between India and the West Indies will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from October 10 to 14.
If India manage to get the better of the West Indies in the Delhi Test as well, then their PCT% will rise to 61.90. But 61.90 PCT% will also not be enough for them to pip Sri Lanka and take the second position in the WTC 2025-27 points table.
