AI research firm Anthropic has roped in Rahul Patil as new chief technology officer (CTO). As CTO of Anthropic, Patil oversees engineering functions including compute, infrastructure, inference, and product engineering. His appointment aligns with Anthropic’s strategic focus on scaling its AI infrastructure to meet growing demand.
Patil resides in Seattle with his wife, Aruna Patil, and their two children. He maintains strong ties to Bengaluru, his hometown, and is an avid cricket enthusiast.
Patil hails from Bengaluru, India. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from PES Institute of Technology (PESIT) in 2002. He then pursued a Master’s in Computer Science from Arizona State University and an MBA from the University of Washington.
Patil began his career at Microsoft, spending nine years in various engineering roles. He later joined Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he helped build data processing platforms. At Oracle, he served as Senior Vice President for Cloud Infrastructure, overseeing compute, storage, and security services. Before joining Anthropic, Patil was the CTO at Stripe, where he played a pivotal role in scaling the company’s engineering capabilities and infrastructure.
