iPhone foldable is highly expected to launch in 2026 and it will get a big help from one of its biggest rival in the market.
Samsung making OLED foldable display for Apple’s iPhone fold is not shocking.
Apple is bringing its first iPhone foldable next year and one of its biggest rivals will have an important role in making this product a reality. Samsung has been in the foldable business the longest than most tech brands and it is understandably going to offer some of the parts that Apple will need to make the foldable.
And recently, one of the Samsung executives teased the iPhone launch by confirming the company’s focus with foldable displays for a major American company and we mostly know who that could be.
iPhone Foldable Closing In
One of Samsung executives, Lee Cheong, President at Samsung’s Display unit was quoted sharing the update about making a foldable OLED display for a North American client, which is highly expected to be Apple. Choeng obviously did not mention the name of the brand but the hints are clear enough about the answer and also vouches for all the recent details about the iPhone Fold that have been circling around the rumour mill.
Reports claim Apple is testing foldable production in Taiwan and aims to mass produce the iPhone device in India before it releases in 2026. The company is looking to increase its overall production by 10 percent which could be enhanced by the focus on the foldable product.
The new iPhone Air is probably showing us its foldable blueprint and how Apple plans to trim the size of the iPhone, pack all the components in one module and serve a product that gets everyone’s attention. We do expect the company to adopt Samsung’s book-style foldable design for its own product.
Apple wants to set up the production base and the manufacturing steps with its suppliers in Taiwan first and then use the same process to mass produce the foldable iPhone in India.
Does this mean the foldable will launch at a lower price than expected? To be fair, Apple products never shy away from hefty price tags, something we saw with the Vision Pro headset and even the Watch Ultra model to some extent.
Apple has been late to the foldable party (just like AI) and expectations are the device will be more polished and premium than most of the others available in the market.
