The first Test of the two-match series between India and the West Indies will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad from October 2 to 6.

Shubman Gill will captain India in the two-match Test series against the West Indies. In the first Test of the home series, which is set to be played from October 2 to 6 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gill will have a chance to equal Don Bradman’s all-time captaincy record. If Gill manages to score at least 246 runs in the first innings of the Ahmedabad Test, then he will become the joint-fastest batter in the world to score 1000 runs in Tests as captain.

Bradman needed 11 innings to score 1000 Test runs as captain of Australia. On the other hand, Gill has 754 runs to his name in 10 innings of five Test matches played so far as India captain.

In addition to that, Gill will also have a chance to become India’s highest run-getter in the World Test Championship (WTC) during the first Test. As of now he has 2647 runs to his credit in 37 matches. He needs to score at least 85 runs to go past Rishabh Pant’s tally of 2731 runs.

Pant, who is missing the Test series against the West Indies due to a foot injury, has played a total of 38 matches in the WTC for India.
