Amazon has introduced the AI-powered Alexa that will rival Gemini and Siri AI versions in 2026 with new devices powering them.
Amazon’s AI Alexa version is finally here with these devices.
Amazon has refreshed its Echo lineup with new smart speakers and smart display devices that get to try out the new AI-powered Alexa+ assistant. The new Echo Dot and Echo Show models get a new design which gives them a fresh look that adds further impetus for the Alexa+ interface on the screen.
These are also the first Amazon smart devices to get Alexa+ assistant out of the box and gradually it should be coming to older Echo devices. Running the AI version of Alexa needs more power and that is what Amazon is packing inside the new Echo smart devices.
Amazon Echo Smart Speakers, Smart Display Prices
Amazon Echo Dot Max is the new small speaker which is priced at $99.99 (Rs 8,700 approx). The Echo Studio costs $219.99 (Rs 19,053 approx) while the Echo Show 8 and Show 11 will be available for $179.99 (Rs 15,500 approx) and $219.99 (Rs 19,000 approx), respectively. These devices will be available in the US from the end of this month and their India launch details are not yet confirmed.
Amazon Echo Dot, Echo Show 11 Features
Amazon has equipped all the new smart devices with AZ3 or AZ3 Pro chips that have been developed to cater to the AI demands and other personalised performances of these devices with Alexa+ at the core.
The Echo Dot Max speaker is the smallest of the lot which now offers 3x more bass than the previous Dot speaker. It has a two-way speaker system that not only captures your voice for Alexa+ to respond but also delivers a holistic audio experience for music and other content.
The bigger Echo Studio speaker has actually gotten smaller this year but now supports spatial audio and Dolby Atmos for improved sound quality. The spherical design is likely to bring an all-round sound experience, filling all corners of the room.
The Echo Show 8 and 11
The new Echo smart display devices get a high-resolution display and feature a 13MP camera that can be used for video calls and to detect your presence in space. You get smart home features built into the devices that work with other third-party products and solutions.
Both the Echo Show models have been revamped on the audio front, you now have stereo speakers on the front along with customised woofer to fill the audio in the visual.
The New AI Alexa Is Here
But all of these devices need the new Alexa+ AI assistant to really show you their worth. We got our first preview of the new Alexa a few years back and Amazon’s AI struggles mean we had to wait till 2025 to see the new version roll out. The company says Alexa+ is more conversational, personalised and smarter than the first iteration. This means you don’t need a wake word to use Alexa any more and its actions will continue just like you would expect from the GenAI version.
Alexa+ is a premium assistant so you pay $19.99 per month but the company is offering the AI assistant for free to all the Prime members. Alexa+ is also coming to the US in the next few weeks and eventually coming to other regions.
