WhatsApp document scanner, live photos support and AI chat themes now rolling out
WhatsApp users are now able to share live photos on their Android and iOS phones thanks to a new update from the platform. Live Photos or Motion Photos have been available on both the platforms for a while and finally WhatsApp users are going to make use of the interactive photos with sound and motion.
WhatsApp has supported GIF and other formats for years so it is good to see motion photos finally become compatible on the messaging app. In addition to this, WhatsApp is giving more powers to Meta AI chatbot which now creates background themes and chat themes using text prompts.
WhatsApp Motion Photos On Android and iOS: More Features Coming Your Way
WhatsApp motion/Live photos support is available by default and you don’t need to turn on any feature to make it work.
In addition to this, you also get more varied features on WhatsApp, including the ability to scan documents without using any other app. Yes, the messaging platform now allows you to scan a document, crop it and send to other people, all without going to another app.
We’ve tried it out in the WhatsApp beta Android version and now all users are officially getting it this week. You can read more about it from our hands-on experience with WhatsApp document scanner which does a good job of giving you soft copies of important documents, files and IDs.
You can also use Meta AI to create chat themes by giving it a text prompt in the messaging app. Chat themes are a good way to personalise the experience and now you can go one step further with the theme of your choice. WhatsApp also brings new chat sticker packs for more interactive chats.
And finally you have an easier way to search for WhatsApp group names. The messaging app will let you search for the person linked to the same group and show the mutual details for both of them.
WhatsApp has also become the popular choice for new AI bots and you can actually use Google’s Nano Banana image feature through the Perplexity bot on the platform.
