Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is official and it has some unique features
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is real and it has been officially unveiled by the brand in China this week. The new Xiaomi 17 series was tipped to include 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max variants, inspired by Apple’s own 17 naming scheme. However, the similarities don’t end with the names as the 17 Pro Max camera layout at the back looks like we have seen before, that also from Apple’s stable.
This is also the first device in the market to ship with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset as well as the new HyperOS 3 version based on Android 16 from the brand. Like most of the number series, Xiaomi is offering a Leica-tuned camera system along with other premium features.
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: Does It Cost Less Than iPhone 17 Pro?
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max price starts at CNY 5,999 (Rs 74,700 approx) for the base 12GB + 512GB variant, going up to CNY 6,299 (Rs 78,400 approx) and CNY 6,999 (Rs 87,100 approx) for the 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB variants, respectively. So, yes, the Xiaomi Pro Max version is two times cheaper than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: Dual Screen, Leica Cameras And More
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max does feature a large 6.9-inch 2K AMOLED display along with a smaller screen at the back in the camera island that can be used for alarms, AI pets and AI portraits. Xiaomi even says that with a special case you can convert the back screen into the handheld gaming console.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset that was announced earlier this week. You also have the Android 16-based HyperOS 3 version available out of the box.
The 17 Pro Max from Xiaomi has a triple rear camera setup which sits inside an identical camera island. It has a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom.
Unlike Apple, Xiaomi does not skimp on the battery specs. The new model has a 7,500mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging speeds supported. Even with this size of unit, you get the 17 Pro Max weighing 192 grams and comes with 8mm in thickness.
We are eager to see if Xiaomi launches the 17 Pro Max (and other models) in the Indian market where the competition is fierce but exciting.
