ChatGPT users on the web, mobile and the WhatsApp bot facing login issues
ChatGPT is down for many users on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 and OpenAI has confirmed the issue via its support page. This is the latest ChatGPT outage situation faced this month, and seems to be affecting a wide range of ChatGPT users, which includes the web, mobile and the ChatGPT bot on WhatsApp as well.
The support page active on September 24 cites ChatGPT Login degradation which means people are unable to login to their account. And the other one is linked to the ChatGPT on WhatsApp running through the bot number for wider access.
The latest update from OpenAI as of 13:42 PM IST on Wednesday suggests the core ChatGPT versions are up and running, while the WhatsApp bot is still facing issues and should be fixed soon.
ChatGPT Outages: What’s Causing Them?
The ChatGPT outage complaints started showing up on outage tracker Downdetector from 9:30 AM IST onwards, which is linked to the web, and mobile login. The WhatsApp ChatGPT bot outage was first reported one hour back around 8:35 AM IST and they are currently working on implementing the solution to fix the issue.
According to the tracker, more than 65 percent users have reported issues with ChatGPT, 24 percent for the web version and 9 percent unable to login through the mobile app. It is being reported across all major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata among others.
If you lose access to the web, mobile and ChatGPT bot version of ChatGPT that means the whole AI chatbot platform is unavailable for millions.
One of the biggest ChatGPT outages was reported on August 21, when thousands were unable to access the AI chatbot for their work and other needs.
