Chrome is facing another security risk that has alerted the Indian government this month once again, and they are informing millions of users about the issue.
Chrome users on Windows and Macs have been warned about a serious issue that can make it easy for hackers to bypass the security and steal information. The alert from the Indian government this week is also making millions of PC/Mac users aware about the situation and asking them to act on these concerns right away.
The alert has been issued by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-IN, on September 18 comes with a ‘high-severity’ alert to users of Google Chrome on popular platforms like Windows, macOS and Linux.
Chrome Security Issue: What Is It?
The CERT-In alert claims some of the important components in the Chrome browser are facing the issues which can be exploited to steal data or have a phishing campaign targeting them. “These vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to Type Confusion in V8, Heap buffer overflow in ANGLE, Use after free in Dawn and WebRTC. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by persuading a victim to visit a specially crafted web page,”
The agency also points out the Chrome Windows and macOS versions facing the risk:
- Google Chrome versions prior to 140.0.7339.185/.186 for Windows/Mac
- Google Chrome versions prior to 140.0.7339.185 for Linux
