Abhishek Sharma is playing as an opening batter for Team India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 match against Pakistan on Sunday, September 21. In the Super 4s match taking place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Abhishek has hammered three fours and two sixes so far (at the end of 6 overs). Abhishek opened his account by hammering Shaheen Shah Afridi for a six on the first ball of the 172-run chase, and he smashed his second six on the fifth ball of the fourth over bowled by Abrar Ahmed.

105-run partnership with Gill

In the 172-run chase against Pakistan, Abhishek added 105 runs in 9.5 overs for the first wicket with Shubman Gill. Gill faced 28 balls during his stay at the crease on Sunday and, with the help of eight fours, scored 47 runs. He was sent back to the pavilion by Faheem Ashraf. On the fifth ball of the 10th over of India’s innings, Ashraf breached Gill’s defence and shattered his stumps.

India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav walked out to bat at No. 3, but he failed to open his account. He was sent back to the pavilion for a three-ball duck by Haris Rauf. Surya tried to play a big shot against the express pacer but was caught by Abrar Ahmed.
