Speaking to reporters at an event held at the Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, the minister said the inauguration timeline has been accelerated to bring the project online as soon as possible. “We are trying to push up the inauguration so that we can see it happen very soon. Right now, the date that we have decided is October 30, when we will have the inauguration and within 45 days, we can see the operations also start,” Naidu was quoted as saying by PTI.

He noted that there is growing interest from airline operators, who view the airport as a promising addition to the aviation network. “…the airlines are very much excited to operate from the Jewar airport, also they feel that there is huge potential in that area. So, I can see that at least 10 cities will be connected in the first phase from Jewar airport, as seen in discussions that are happening with the airlines,” the minister explained.

The Noida International Airport is being constructed through a public-private partnership between the Government of India, the Uttar Pradesh state government, and Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG. Envisioned as a state-of-the-art facility, the airport aims to combine Swiss efficiency with Indian hospitality, offering high standards of convenience to customers along with operational efficiency, and digital integration, while maintaining a strong focus on environmental sustainability.
The airport’s location in Jewar is expected to improve air connectivity for Noida, Greater Noida, western Uttar Pradesh, and surrounding regions including Mathura and Agra. It is intended to relieve the growing passenger and cargo load at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport.
Originally scheduled to open in September 2024, the airport’s operational launch has seen multiple postponements. The opening was first moved to April 2025, then to May 15 for domestic flights, before being delayed again due to ongoing construction activity. The current target for inauguration in late October highlights the momentum of of authorities to complete the airport.

Nonetheless, passengers using the airport will be subject to a User Development Fee (UDF), as set by the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority. Departing international passengers will have to pay ₹980, while arriving international travellers will be charged ₹420. Domestic flyers will pay ₹490 when departing and ₹210 on arrival. These rates are significantly lower than what the airport operator initially proposed, and they bring the total user fee for a round trip to Dubai to ₹1,400 and for a domestic round trip to Mumbai to ₹700.
Once operational, the Noida International Airport would play a vital role in enhancing regional connectivity and boosting economic development in northern India. In addition to its role in passenger travel, it will serve as a strategic hub for cargo operations.
