MacBooks could soon move into a territory that both Apple and Steve Jobs have denied for years. The new report from a reputed analyst claims the company is going to bring touchscreen to the MacBook Pro models that will feature an OLED display. This will be a big change for the company which has mocked Microsoft for making Windows hybrids and has its own iPad in the PC category with the latest iPadOS 26 version.

The touchscreen MacBook Pro is reportedly going into production in late 2026 and is widely tipped to be announced in 2027 by the company.

MacBook With Touchscreen: It’s Finally Coming?

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared the update regarding the new version of MacBook Pro OLED something that Bloomberg had mentioned in an earlier report. It is interesting to see Kuo talk about this model, something that would have been unthinkable a few years back. Hybrids in the Windows arena have shown their purpose, but macOS could be a different kettle of fish.

The analyst says Apple knows that a touch-based MacBook could eat into the demand for iPads (or Pro) but maybe that’s why we are seeing this feature coming to the high-end Pro variant rather than the Air. Apple has been making some unorthodox decisions and the touch MacBook Pro seems like it could be at the top of that list.

The touchscreen MacBook Pro is likely to be powered by the M7 chipset which aligns with the 2027 launch timeline, as mentioned by both Kuo and the Gurman report. Adding the feature will undoubtedly make it more expensive and this could mean that Apple will have two different versions of the Pro model, one offered without and one with a touch screen.

Affordable MacBook Also In The Mix

Kuo also gave a brief mention about the rumoured affordable MacBook version that is expected to be powered by A18 Pro chipset and offered with a 13-inch display without touch support. This device could have an early release in 2026 and its launch price tag will have everyone interested.
