PM Modi to inaugurate Mumbai Metro 3 final stretch: Route, stations, timings, fare


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the final section of the Mumbai Metro 3 (Aqua Line) corridor on September 30. The metro, which will connect Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli to Cuffe Parade.

Mumbai Metro 3 Route

When fully operational, Metro 3 will span roughly 33.5 km from Aarey JVLR to Cuffe Parade. Currently operational routes include the following:

Aarey to Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC)

The route, operational since October 202, spans around 13 km. Aarey, SEEPZ, MIDC, Marol Naka, Airport T2, Sahar Road, Airport T1, Santacruz, Bandra Colony, and BKC are the stations in this route.

BKC to Worli (Acharya Atre Chowk)

Opened in May 2025, the route spans around 10 km. Stations included are Dharavi, Shitladevi Temple, Dadar, Siddhivinayak Temple, Worli, and Acharya Atre Chowk.

Worli to Cuffe Parade

Expected to be opened by October 2025. The route leads to Cuffe Parade after traversing the Science Museum, Mahalaxmi, Grant Road, Girgaon, Kalbadevi, CSMT, Hutatma Chowk, Churchgate, and Vidhan Bhavan.

Timings and Frequency

Previously departing at 6:30 am, the first train on the operational parts (from Aarey JVLR and Acharya Atre Chowk) now leaves at 5:55 am. The last service is scheduled at 10:30 am.

The train frequency and headways for the already-operated section are approximately every 6-7 minutes during peak and non-peak hours; the final stretch will probably follow similar norms. The operational section (Aarey to Acharya Atre Chowk) is currently fully operational and spans 22.46 km.

Fare and Travel Time

Depending on distance, fares for the parts that are now in operation range from ₹10 to ₹50. The end-to-end fare (from Aarey to Cuffe Parade) is expected to be in the upper range (about ₹50) for the entire trip once the full queue opens.

With the current service, the 22-kilometre journey from Aarey to Acharya Atre Chowk takes roughly 36 minutes. It is expected that the entire trip will take less than an hour, with the final phase adding more stations and lengthening the route.
