Pakistan, despite struggling to score runs in the majority of the first half of their Asia Cup 2025 Group A match, managed to get the better of the United Arab Emirates by 41 runs in Dubai on Wednesday, September 17, to book a place in the Super 4s of the ongoing eight-team tournament. In the must-win match against UAE at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Pakistan posted a total of 146/9 in 20 overs and then bowled out the hosts for 105 runs in 17.4 overs.

The 41-run win over UAE helped Pakistan confirm their place in the top two teams of Group A, and as a result, they have also qualified for the Super 4s.

In the Super 4s stage of the Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan will now face arch-rivals India in their first match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 21.

India and Pakistan faced each other last Sunday (September 14) as well in Dubai, and in that fixture, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side hammered Salman Ali Agha & Co. by 7 wickets.

The Pakistani team would like to come up with a better show against India on September 21 and take revenge for the defeat suffered last week.

In the other two matches of the Super 4s stage, Pakistan will face the top two teams from Group B. As of now, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are all in contention for a place in the Super Fours. If the Rashid Khan-led side defeat Sri Lanka on Thursday (September 18), then they will qualify for the Super Fours along with the team with a better net run rate (NRR) between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and if Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi, then Afghanistan’s campaign will come to an end and Bangladesh will qualify for the Super 4s along with Sri Lanka.

Shaheen, Fakhar Shine

In the 10th match of the Asia Cup 2025, after UAE captain Mohammad Waseem won the toss and opted to field first, Pakistan rode on Fakhar Zaman’s 50-run knock from 36 balls and Shaheen Shah Afridi’s unbeaten 29 from 14 balls to post a total of 146/9. During his stay at the crease, Fakhar hammered two fours and three sixes, and Shaheen smacked three fours and two maximums. In the last match against India as well, Shaheen impressed with his batting as a No. 9 batter.
