Xiaomi does like Apple’s design and naming schemes which the next flagship lineup is going to show in full colours.

iPhone or Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and that display?
Xiaomi is skipping the 16 number lineup and following Apple’s footstep to launch the new Xiaomi 17 series this year. The company has even teased its Xiaomi Pro models earlier this week which suggests Xiaomi could use the Apple inspiration for its devices once again. Even the names are going to have the similar feeling, especially since the new leaked clip of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max leaves little to imagine.
The new iPhone 17 Pro series gets a redesigned camera layout with the flash getting distanced from the sensors. Xiaomi 17 Pro seems to be using the same layout but adding a second display at the back, something we saw with the Mi 11 Ultra a few years back.
Xiaomi 17 Pro Max Expected: What Will It Offer?
It does seem like Xiaomi is moving away from the Ultra model and rebrand it as the 17 Pro Max for the next flagship. The teaser here shows you the camera module, along with a bigger display at the back. The Leica branding is still around, and the LED flash sits outside of the module below it. The teaser clip was shared via Weibo which was later taken down.
Xiaomi is likely to bring three models to the 17 series; Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro and the 17 Pro Max. The brand could also bring other mid-range versions at a later date. But the focus will be on the new flagship lineup, which should be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, expected to be confirmed later this month.
The HyperOS 3.0 version should be available from day one with the new devices as the company continues working on the Android 16 beta version behind the scenes with its testing groups.
Having Leica on board means the Pro Max variant should pack some heavy-duty cameras and upgrades. Xiaomi 17 series should be unveiled in the next few weeks in China and gradually make its way to other regions.
