Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on Wednesday, Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj praised the unwavering support the team received from the country’s leader, regardless of their on-field results.
Siraj, who has become an integral part of the Indian team in recent years, recounted how PM Modi’s words boosted the team’s morale after their 2023 ODI World Cup loss to Australia in Ahmedabad. The Rohit Sharma-led side missed out on their third title as Australia clinched their record-extending sixth trophy by six wickets. PM Modi also commended the team with a phone call following their T20 World Cup victory in Barbados last year, and later hosted them at his New Delhi residence.
“In 2023, after our World Cup loss, Modi ji came to the dressing room and lifted our spirits with his words. A year later, when we won the T20 World Cup, he called to congratulate us. He stood by us in defeat and in victory – a true inspiration,” Siraj shared in a video post on X as part of the ‘My Modi Story’ campaign.

Cheeka’s 2011 Story
Former Indian batter Krishnamachari Srikkanth also recounted his first meeting with PM Modi. He was impressed by the PM’s ‘grasping power’ and ‘sharp intelligence’. “I met Modi ji during the 2011 World Cup. I broke protocol; he broke the ice with a hug. Over the years, we have met on various occasions, and I have come to admire the person he is. At 75, still humble, building the nation, and serving tirelessly for us,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Ravindra Jadeja had also recalled his first meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2010, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
As the nation prepares to celebrate PM Modi’s 75th birthday on Wednesday, powerful stories are emerging under the ‘My Modi Story’ campaign, highlighting the Prime Minister’s personal impact on people from all walks of life.
