The India–Pakistan cricket rivalry is more than just a game—it’s a spectacle that transcends sport, uniting and dividing millions with every clash. Their upcoming Asia Cup 2025 meeting in Dubai on September 14 promises to deliver another chapter of drama, intensity, and unforgettable moments.

India have traditionally held the upper hand in the continental championship—both in ODIs and T20Is. Since the tournament’s launch in 1984, the two sides have appeared in 15 of the 16 editions, meeting 18 times across formats.

Remarkably, despite their storied rivalry, they have never squared off in an Asia Cup final, with most battles coming in the group stage or Super Four rounds, often under high-stakes qualification pressure.

India and Pakistan have locked horns in 13 T20Is so far. The first face-off was back in the 2007 World Cup group stage game that ended in a tie, and the result was obtained via bowl-out. India won 3-0. The next encounter was historic – the World Cup final, where India clinched a narrow 5-run win.

Out of 13 matches, Pakistan returned victorious only thrice. India have an upper hand of 10 victories and counting!

In the Men’s Asia Cup T20, there have been only three face-offs, and India lead here as well. The men in blue have won twice, while Pakistan has won just once.

India will also take confidence from recent form. Over the last five years (September 2020–September 2025), the sides have clashed in five T20Is, with India edging the head-to-head 3–2.

The odds are in favour of India, but Pakistan have always been tough contenders. India are full strength while the other team lacks their top batters. Can a new team pull off a trick on Sunday?
