Apple introduced four new iPhone models this week in California, and one of them doesn’t even have the 17 branding. The new 17 Pro series has people excited, even though their prices in India have gone up by some margin. This is where the iPhone 17 enters the room and gets everyone’s attention this year.
Usually, the regular model sits on the sidelines and lets the premium versions bask in glory with Apple’s focus towards them. But this year it is different, and Apple seems to have realised that the iPhone 17 needs the love and upgrades to keep it relevant among the sea of innovation.

iPhone 17 gets a 6.3-inch OLED display this year which is bigger than the 6.1-inch OLED unit on its predecessor. However, the bigger news is that now you get ProMotion or 120Hz adaptive refresh rate screen with the standard iPhone model.
That’s not all, it also comes with an anti-reflective panel which is good to see. Android users have mocked Apple for giving a 60Hz display on its flagship in 2024, which changes with the iPhone 17 launch. Not only is the display brighter it is also more effective to save you battery life.

iPhone 17 price in India starts at Rs 82,900 which is Rs 3,000 more than the iPhone 16 variant. But here’s the thing, the new iPhone 17 gets 256GB as the base variant, while last year you had a 128GB option. This means you get double the storage for an extra few grand.
New Apple Silicone
iPhone 17 gets the latest A19 chipset with 8GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. It is not entirely flagship-grade like the A19 Pro but still a really good match for the Android flagships in the market. Having a bigger and better display means gaming will be even more enjoyable.
48MP Dual-Fusion Camera And New Selfie Power
Apple claims the dual camera system with the 48MP sensors is now and offers better imaging quality. We’ve not really liked the photos that come out of the regular model, hopefully that changes this year.
What definitely is an upgrade is the 18MP front camera that carries a square sensor which is effective if you want to click wider pictures. Apple is also tuning the camera to get more people in the frame, and have them looking at the sensor.
Fast Charging And Longer Battery Life
iPhone 17 getting an LTPO panel will aid better standby and having a bigger 3,692mAh battery means you get more out of the new model. You also get a marginal boost in the charging speed.
