Vivo has another T4 model out in the market.

Vivo’s T-series lineup has evolved and in the current T4 iteration we have seen 6 models and counting. The most recent is the T4 Pro which looks to go in a different direction, at least from the way it looks at the back. Like the other T4 models it ditches the Zeiss branding which explains the lower price range and across different variants.

Vivo’s formula with its mid-range lineup is pretty clear lately, offering a sleek device, with a large capacity battery and packing it with reliable hardware. The T4 Pro checks most of these boxes and some but is it worth being your next smartphone if the budget is under Rs 30,000 that’s the answer we went seeking during our time.

Sleek But Not Handy

Vivo has a large-sized device that is somehow sleek and its overall balance makes it easy to hold and even use with one hand. Having said that, the T4 Pro has a wide profile which might make it unwieldy for some. The design element includes a lot of plastic, both on the frame and at the back.

We don’t mind seeing something that is not glossy and more durable than transparent materials but would have liked more work into making it look more premium.

The actual finish is not bad but only the right of use plastic gives you the right in-hand feel. The camera module does get a refresh, more in line with the iPhone 16 with a dual sensor setup and the third one sitting above the LED flash.

The Curvy Touch

Vivo does manage to compensate for the basic design with a quad-curved AMOLED panel that 1B colours. The 6.77-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate is smooth, the colours are punchy and the immersive nature lets you enjoy watching videos and the depth of the content.

Vivo goes with non-Corning glass protection for its devices and the T4 Pro uses a diamond shield glass which seems to be holding up quite well. The bezels on the screen are not the slimmest but the symmetry means they are not a hindrance to your viewing.

The Right Amount Of Power

Vivo is powering the T4 Pro with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset which is the ideal choice for a mid-range device. Its benchmark scores are balanced which means it will reliably work for most of the regular tasks. We got to test the highest 12GB + 256GB variant which shows us the levels of the hardware packed into the device but also assures us that the 7 Gen 4 should work effectively even with 8GB RAM if you opt for the lower variant.

And then you have the Funtouch OS 15 version which has been tried and tested so many times that we have lost count of using the phrase. The version has gotten lighter than before, and it manages to pack a lot of features without going overboard.

The AI elements are there but limited to what Google has to offer. The company is promising 4 OS upgrades for the T4 Pro which effectively means three because Android 16 will be part of that list. The bloatware is still around but Vivo makes sure that not all of them annoy you with notifications.

The Cameras Work

Vivo offers a dual 50MP main camera setup that has a wide sensor with OIS, and a telephoto lens with OIS. The third one just makes up for the number with a 2MP sensor. The first two cameras didn’t give us much to expect but we were pleasantly surprised with the quality on offer.

Having OIS on both these sensors, as well as the processing power gives you detailed and sharp images even when the light is not favourable. With selfies, the skin details are not the most accurate but the tones are fairly improved compared to the earlier versions.

The Ideal Workhorse

Remember we mentioned that the T4 Pro is quite sleek for its heft, and by that we meant the 6,500mAh battery packed inside. The silicon-carbon grade battery tech is now making its way to the mid-range segment and devices like these will help you see that path.

The phone itself relishes the support of the unit, which scores well over 22 hours on the PCMark Battery test, which effectively offers more than a day’s backup. You can even push it further with moderate use and the fast charging has you back up in less than an hour. The charger is in the box so you don’t spend anything extra for that boost.

Vivo T4 Pro has the right mix of performance and quality dished out with a plastic body that is not ideal. The cameras are quite good for the price, and the battery life keeps you going for a day and easily a lot more.
