Former BCCI president and ICC Chairman N Srinivasan has reportedly been appointed as the chairman of five-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings. He was named chairman on May 10.
As per a report in Cricbuzz, Srinivasan has been a director at Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd (CSKCL) – the company that owns CSK and its sister franchises in SA20 (Joburg Super Kings) and Major League Cricket (Texas Super Kings) – since February of 2025.
“At a time when world and franchise cricket is changing, the company needs his experience and wisdom to navigate through all the changes,” the publication quoted a director of the company as saying.
Srinivasan is also said to be in regular touch with former CSK captain MS Dhoni who led the franchise to their five IPL titles. He also regularly attends franchise meetings.
CSKCL has called for an AGM on September 27.
Srinivasan’s daughter Rupa Gurunath is one of the directors of the company and was made “Wholetime Director” with effect from August 24. R Srinivasan, Rakesh Singh, PL Subramanian, Sanjay Patel and V Manickam are the other directors.
Kasi Viswanathan is the Managing Director and CEO of CSK.
Dhoni’s IPL Future
Dhoni, who has been the face of CSK since its inception in 2008, retired from international cricket in 2020 but has continued as an active player in IPL. The 44-year-old continues to be coy on his future.
Dhoni though admits the time for retirement is nearing. However, he will continue to remain associated with CSK even after ending his playing career.
“Me and CSK, we are together,” Dhoni said during an event recently. “You know, even for the next 15-20 years (crowd cheers). I hope they don’t think I’ll be playing for another 15-20 years. It’s not about one year or two years. I will always be sitting in a yellow jersey. You know whether I’ll be playing or not in a while, but yeah, you know yourself.”
