Vi 5G launch: Vodafone Idea (Vi) 5G network is now launching in Kolkata as the operator looks to gradually bring its services to more cities in India. Earlier in August, Vi 5G added nine more cities to its lineup, which already includes the big hits like Delhi, Bengaluru, Patna and Mumbai among others so far.
Kolkata is the second city in West Bengal after Siliguri to get Vi 5G network. Vodafone Idea is the only network offering unlimited 5G data across all its plans and the company is hoping that consumers consider its 5G services as a solid option.

The Vodafone Idea 5G prepaid plans start at Rs 299, offering 1GB of data per day for a 28-day validity. The company also provides plans at Rs 349 and Rs 365 that include 1.5GB and 2GB of daily data, respectively, for the same duration.
For those looking for a long-term option, Vi’s most expensive prepaid plan is priced at Rs 3,599, offering 2GB of data per day with a 365-day validity. Notably, all these plans come with unlimited 5G data. Moreover, Vi has introduced four options for postpaid customers. Users will have to pay Rs 451 and Rs 551 a month for Vi Max 451 and Vi Max 551. The latter has 90GB of data, while the former has 50GB. The Vi Max 751 has a 150GB data capacity and costs Rs 751.
Vi has introduced a dedicated website detailing its 5G connectivity features and new prepaid and postpaid plans. Currently, Vi is the only telecom provider in India offering unlimited 5G broadband on plans with less than 2GB of daily data.
Vodafone Idea 5G services will work on all smartphones launched in the country after Jan 1, 2020 that come with VoLTE compatibility. In the last few months, Vi 5G services have been launched in cities like Jaipur, Mysuru, Nagpur, and other regions in the country as it looks to battle it out with other telcos in the sector.
