Huawei is bringing its second-gen tri-foldable device to the market ahead of Samsung’s belated debut in this segment this year.

PC in your pocket, is what Huawei says about its new tri-fold device
While we wait for Samsung to unveil its first tri-fold device, Huawei has showcased its second model in the segment this week. The Chinese giant has introduced the new Mate XTs in the region which continues to build on the HarmonyOS lineup along with impetus on packing the latest hardware, improved camera setup and giving more value for the form factor.
Huawei calls it a ‘PC in your pocket’ which you could say for most smartphones these, but with the tri-fold, the scope of a PC really goes to another level.
Huawei Mate XTs Tri-Foldable: How Much It Costs?
The new Huawei tri-foldable device gets a starting price of CNY 17,999 which makes it close to Rs 2.20 lakh for the 16GB + 256GB variant. You have other variants that push the range over Rs 2.50 lakh in the market.
Huawei Mate XTs Specifications
The Mate XTs does its best impression of a tri-foldable device. You get a 6.4-inch screen in the single mode, a 7.9-inch display in the dual-mode and the fully unfolded version gets you a 10.2-inch screen which is almost the size of an iPad. The device weighs 298 grams and carries a thickness of 3.6mm when you unfold it completely.
It is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 9020 SoC with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage options. Being of a tablet size means you get stylus support that also works as a remote to control tasks. Huawei offers its HarmonyOS 5.1 version which is built ground up by the brand. The device does not skimp on the cameras, and you get a 50MP primary sensor, with a 40MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP periscope telephoto lens.
The tri-fold device packs a 5,600mAh battery with support for 66W wired and 50W wireless charging speeds. We don’t expect Huawei to launch this product outside of China anytime soon, but it does give brands like Samsung a blueprint for the category and we are eager to see how its first tri-foldable looks and pans out.
