The Instagram app on iPad is finally official. Yes, the photo sharing/messaging/Reels platform is available on the Apple device for the first time, 15 years after Instagram made its debut. The native is listed on the App Store for iPad users, something that many people have been asking for years.

Having its own app means Instagram on iPad will function the right way since it is not a mod from the phone app and all the screen aspect ratio will be covered, giving you the best experience.

Instagram App For iPad: It’s Here Before GTA VI

The Instagram app needs an iPad that can run iPadOS 15.1 or later versions. You can download the app for free. The company has also confirmed Android tablets will be getting their version soon.

Instagram is making sure the iPad app is able to use the extra screen estate. The platform opens on the device and the first thing you will see are Reels. And as you can see here, right above the Reels layout you will see the Stories from different contacts.

The left side of the interface has neatly tucked in all the other options, including the Following tab that now caters to more personalised posts, and latest options from accounts you follow.

iPads come at 10.9 and 12-inch which means a lot more screen to utilise the Instagram app and the company says the new version has been tuned and designed for the big screen. It is still funny to see Meta take over 15 years to have a basic Instagram app on one of the most popular tablets in the market.

Over the years, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri has been quizzed about their puzzling absence from the iPad, and most of his reasons have never made any sense. In an interview earlier, Mosseri pointed out that the iPad community (of users) is not big enough for the company to make it a priority to work on a dedicated iPad app.

Well, it seems they finally see the purpose of having the app running on the device, and millions of users will be glad to see it happen as well. Meta also probably sees value in getting more users to its platforms, where they can engage with tools like Meta AI and use it till Apple has its AI tools and assistant sorted.
