Android security update is available for all Pixel 6 and later models from Google which needs to be immediately installed.

Android users are getting a critical update this month
Pixel phones are getting a critical September 2025 update that doesn’t have a lot of features or goodies but it does fix some important issues for the devices. The company has focused on the Pixel 6 and later models, who are getting the Android security patch which fixes not one but around 84 vulnerabilities, out of which two of them have been actively exploited which is never a good sign.
These security risks are hidden deep within the Android Linux kernel that will be hard to observe for the end users.
Android Security Warning: What The Sept 2025 Patch Offers
The security update comes with the September 2025 security patch that is available for the older Pixel phones as well as the new Pixel 10 series. You are getting it over the air, and you can check for it in the system settings:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down to System
- Check for the new update
- Install the update
- Reboot the phone
The new security patch is installed on the Pixel device
Google has shared the security issues and details about the update in a bulletin over here. It does affect Android phones running version 13, 14, 15 and the latest 16 as well. This means that other brands like OnePlus, Xiaomi and Samsung among others will start their own updates in the next few days and fix the issues discovered by the Android security team.
Material Express 3 Update For Pixels
The new update does take care of critical issues but there is some fun news for those using the Pixel 6, 7 or even the 9 series model from Google. The new Material 3 Expressive UI changes are coming to these users.
We’ve seen the new design and layout with the Pixel 10 series earlier and the company is offering more devices. We expect other brands to adopt the new UI interface for their respective Android 16 upgrades which will come in the next few months.
