Star Afghanistani spinner Rashid Khan entered his name in the history books on Monday, September 1, by becoming the highest wicket-taker in T20Is. The 26-year-old cricketer, who also captains the Afghanistani team in the shortest format of the game, broke former New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee’s record to take the No. 1 position.
Southee played 126 T20Is for the Black Caps from 2008 to 2024 and accounted for the dismissal of 164 batters, whereas Rashid now has 165 wickets to his name in 98 matches.
He dismissed three UAE batters for 21 runs in the third match of the T20I tri-series played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday evening.
