Valérie Messika brings her Parisian diamond maison to India, reimagining jewelry as modern, powerful, and deeply personal.

Valérie Messika, the Paris-born designer grew up surrounded by the brilliance of gems thanks to her father, renowned diamond dealer André Messika.
On August 16, 2025, Parisian diamond jewelry maison Messika officially entered the Indian market with the grand opening of its first boutique at The Chanakya, New Delhi. The glittering launch event brought together founder and Creative Director Valérie Messika, Ethos CEO Pranav Saboo, and Bollywood actor Ishaan Khatter, underscoring the brand’s expansion into a region where jewelry is deeply tied to heritage and emotion.
For Valérie Messika, the India launch is not just another milestone — it’s a dream realized. Growing up surrounded by diamonds thanks to her father, renowned dealer André Messika, she always imagined how her own designs might resonate with women who have long celebrated jewelry as both adornment and legacy.
As she tells me, her earliest memories of diamonds aren’t about glamour but about emotion. “I used to watch my father handling stones, and for me they were never just objects. They had energy, stories, emotions — something far beyond sparkle,” she recalls. That early fascination became the seed for her now-iconic designs.
Take the Move collection, for instance, which has become synonymous with her brand. She explains that the idea was to bring motion and playfulness to diamonds. “I wanted diamonds to be alive, to move with you. Traditionally, they were kept in safes or worn only for weddings and parties. I wanted women to feel they could wear them every single day, like a second skin.”
This philosophy explains why her pieces carry both strength and softness — a duality Valérie embraces fully. “Femininity is not fragile; it’s powerful, layered, and multifaceted — just like a diamond,” she says, adding that her goal is to create jewelry that empowers but also feels sensual.
That combination has caught the eye of some of the world’s most powerful women. Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, and Gigi Hadid have all stepped out in Messika creations. But for Valérie, celebrity endorsements aren’t about clout. “It’s less about fame and more about resonance. These women are fearless, creative, strong — qualities I want my brand to embody. When they choose Messika, it feels like we’re speaking the same language.”
As our conversation turns toward advice for women choosing their first diamond, Valérie’s words circle back to emotion, the very core of her design ethos. “Don’t overthink it. Jewelry is about how it makes you feel. Follow your instinct and pick the piece that speaks to you, that feels like a part of you. That’s when it becomes timeless.”
As Messika sets down roots in India, her philosophy finds a natural home. Here, where jewelry is already steeped in symbolism and sentiment, Valérie’s message is clear: diamonds aren’t just treasures to be admired. They are meant to be lived in, loved, and carried like whispers of strength. With its New Delhi boutique, Messika now invites Indian women to craft their own stories in diamonds — contemporary, powerful, and deeply personal.
