Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, today, announced one of Reliance Foundation’s massive healthcare projects – a 2,000-bed state-of-the-art medical city in Mumbai. Designed to be a hub of healthcare innovation, the facility, she stated, will combine advanced technology, world-class doctors, and affordable care, marking a new chapter in India’s medical landscape.

“This will not be just another hospital,” she said, speaking at the 48th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries. “It will be India’s new beacon of healthcare innovation where AI-powered diagnostics, cutting-edge medical technology, and some of the finest doctors from India and the world will come together to deliver care that will meet the best standards anywhere in the world.”

Nita Ambani began by reiterating Reliance Foundation’s guiding philosophy — Respect for Life. Over the past decade, the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai has treated 3.3 million patients and is ranked as India’s leading multi-specialty hospital, she said. Building on this legacy, she announced the launch of “Jeevan”, a new wing dedicated to chemotherapy and immunotherapy, with a special emphasis on advanced paediatric cancer treatment.

“This wing will be designed to heal our little ones with world-class care and a mother’s warmth,” she explained.

The upcoming medical city will also house a transformative medical college, envisioned to train a new generation of doctors who will serve both India and the world. Nita Ambani emphasised that the mission is not just to expand capacity, but to make world-class healthcare accessible and affordable to every Indian.

Rural Transformation and Early Education

Moving from health to rural well-being, she highlighted that Reliance Foundation touched the lives of nearly 1.5 million people across 55,000 villages this year. Initiatives ranged from water security and resilient farming to empowering fishing communities and supporting women and children.

Education, she noted, is central to building self-reliant villages. In partnership with the state governments of Maharashtra and Telangana, Reliance Foundation has upgraded over 1,100 Anganwadis into modern, play-based learning centres. “Our aim is to bring world-class early childhood education to over 10 million children in every corner of India,” she said.

Sports: Driving India’s Olympic Aspirations

Sports, Nita Ambani stressed, has the power to transform lives. Through its Education and Sports for All programme, Reliance Foundation has already reached over 23 million children, she said. From grassroots initiatives to international exposure, the organisation continues to invest in scouting and nurturing young talent, she added.

She shared the inspirational story of Robin Minz, the first tribal cricketer to play in the IPL with Mumbai Indians, calling it a symbol of India’s untapped potential. Women athletes too received special mention, with the Mumbai Indians Women’s team clinching two WPL titles in three years.

Looking ahead, Reliance Foundation is fully backing India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games, she said. “As the fastest-growing major economy with the largest youth population, India is not only ready, but destined, to be the home of the Olympic Games,” Nita Ambani declared.

Vantara: A Movement for Wildlife

Turning to conservation, she spoke about Vantara, founded by Anant Ambani and supported by Reliance Foundation. The initiative has already provided shelter to 1.5 lakh rescued animals, including those orphaned, injured, or endangered, she said.

Inaugurated earlier this year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vantara recently received the Prani Mitra Award, India’s highest honour in animal welfare. “Guided by the wisdom of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, Vantara is the embodiment of our dream for a compassionate world,” she said.

Green Spaces and Cultural Legacy

For Mumbai residents, Nita Ambani announced the development of the Coastal Road Gardens, a 130-acre urban green space featuring walkways, cycling tracks, plazas, and abundant greenery. “This is a deeply personal project for me… a ribbon of green that will hug our city’s edge and gift fresh air to generations of Mumbaikars,” she said.

She also reflected on the success of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), which has in just two years showcased Broadway productions, Indian classical maestros, and global art, alongside the launch of Swadesh’s flagship store to celebrate Indian artisans.

The Road to 2035

Looking to Reliance Foundation’s Silver Jubilee in 2035, Nita Ambani set ambitious goals:

  • Reach 400 million Indians
  • Provide quality education to 300 million school-going children
  • Transform the lives of 100 million women
  • Empower 50 million rural households

“This is not just about growth. This is about transformation, in every city, every village, and the remotest corners of India,” she concluded.

“With the legacy of care at Reliance, we are determined to shape an India that shines not just through its economic might, but through its compassion, values, and culture,” she concluded.
