Star India batter Rohit Sharma has said that Shikhar Dhawan has been the funniest in the dressing room, yet again proving the bond between the duo, which has continued for over a decade now. The Rohit-Dhawan partnership was one of India’s most destructive yet consistent opening stands for a long time.

At an event, Rohit was asked which teammate he relies on for jokes and laughter in the Indian dressing room.

Rohit replied that he gets along well with everyone in the side and did not single out any one player.

There is not just one person; I get along with everyone. But I think for laughter, Shikhar Dhawan is the funniest,” Rohit later said.

The star Indian batter and Dhawan share a long-standing camaraderie from their prolific opening stands in ODI tournaments.

Rohit and Dhawan forged a brilliant opening stand for India in limited-overs cricket, their brilliance peaking during the 2013 Champions Trophy win.

After a prolonged dip in form, Dhawan was dropped from the Indian side in December 2022 and retired from top-level cricket last year, finishing with 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20Is.

While Rohit has retired from T20Is and Tests, he remains active in the ODI format. He last played ODIs in February 2025 during the ICC Champions Trophy in the UAE, where he played a pivotal role in India’s title-winning campaign.

Rohit recently said that not all young cricketers understand the importance of preparing well at the start of their careers, but they learn the significance of it.

“…when I started playing the sport, it was all about having fun, enjoying it. As you go on, you start playing age-group cricket and you kind of keep moving forward from that,” Rohit said while speaking at an event in Mumbai.
