WhatsApp is letting you use AI to change the style or tone of the chat
WhatsApp is adding new use cases for its AI-powered features and now the messaging app looks to help you with improving the chats. The latest tool comes in the form of writing help, and as the name suggests, it will offer better tone and style for your chats before you send it to a friend or family.
We first saw this feature roll out on the WhatsApp beta version earlier this month and now it has got a public release which will gradually work for everyone. The latest update around AI for WhatsApp looks to go beyond generating images, creating a travel itinerary and more.
WhatsApp Writing Help With AI: What It Offers
Meta AI is being put to use for editing, summarising and even creating messages on WhatsApp. The AI model will write the messages in different contexts and tones like Rephrase, Professional, Funny and Proofread. You don’t have to edit all the messages using AI and have the option to send the original version as you have been doing for years.
To make use of the new AI features, you have to draft a message/chat and click on the pencil icon where Meta AI will show you suggestions to fix the grammar or context of the message. You will see the tones at the bottom, and tapping on them, will allow the AI to structure the messages accordingly.
These features built over AI are available for other apps and platforms but WhatsApp is making it compatible in-house which is likely to appeal to more users.
WhatsApp AI Editing: Is It Safe?
WhatsApp claims the person receiving the message will not see any labels or know about the AI-assisted nature of the chat. WhatsApp assures that all the features available through private processing are secure and you can control their use manually. “That’s why using Private Processing features like Writing Help and Message Summaries are optional and are off by default,” WhatsApp says in its post.
WhatsApp is testing voice chat with Meta AI for Android users. The platform has gone through multiple phases of tests earlier, which means the public roll out could be imminent. The Meta AI chatbot will have a dynamic halo icon similar to Siri and answer your queries with the text given on the screen.
