iPhone 18 launch is already shaping up to be one of Apple’s biggest, including showing its first foldable iPhone model.

The new camera control button could see some changes
The iPhone 16 series got us a new camera control button that Apple said will change how people use the settings with its quick-access port. The new button did split opinions, and most reviews were not convinced about its need in the first place. Which seems to have triggered rumours about the camera control likely to go away from the 2026 models, but now we have more updates around this situation.
The details from tipster Instant Digital has refuted the rumours around Apple dropping the camera control button for the iPhone 18 series next year. He claims the company plans to rework this control and that could have some features missing.
iPhone 18 Camera Control: Changes Expected
The tipster says Apple plans to remove the capacitive function from the camera control button, and only offer the pressure-sensing ability. However, he says Apple could be making this change not to make it more functional but also help the company cut the investment needed to accommodate this on the iPhone model.
The actual use case of the button will remain in its current state but we are keen to see how Apple looks to justify or explain this tweak and how it will work out when the iPhone 18 launches next year.
The company will also have its first iPhone foldable launching at the same event in 2026. This is likely to be one of Apple’s most exciting and biggest launches in a year, after giving foldables a miss even though other brands have entered the category and evolved with their products. There could be a lot of similarities with the existing Fold models, and the iPhone Fold version could have a familiar look and feel.
The report says Apple can do what its rivals haven’t done so well, by adopting an in-cell touch screen, which should minimise the crease on the main display. It also claims the iPhone Fold could measure around 9.5mm when folded, and up to 4.8mm when you unfold the device. Besides this, the foldable is expected to have four cameras in total, that has a dual rear camera system with a primary wide sensor and a telephoto lens. While there is one each on the cover and inner screen.
