Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has publicly addressed his son Arjun Tendulkar’s engagement to Saaniya Chandhok for the first time, putting an end to days of speculation.

News of the young cricketer’s significant personal milestone had already sparked a buzz on social media, though there had been no official confirmation from either family until now.

During an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on social media on Monday, Sachin confirmed the engagement. When a fan asked, “Did Arjun really get engaged?”, the Master Blaster responded, “Yes he did and we are all very excited for the new phase in his life”.

What Sachin Tendulkar Said About Arjun Tendulkar’s Engagement To Saaniya Chandhok?

This simple yet heartfelt acknowledgement marked the first public statement on the matter, validating what had until then been mere media whispers and online chatter. Prior to Sachin’s confirmation, subtle hints and reports had suggested that a private engagement ceremony had taken place, attended only by close family and friends of the Tendulkar and Chandhok households.

Who Is Saaniya Chandhok?

Saaniya Chandhok comes from a well-established business family in Mumbai. She is the granddaughter of noted entrepreneur Ravi Ghai, whose family is renowned for contributions to the hospitality and food industries. They own the InterContinental Hotel and Brooklyn Creamery, among other ventures, making this union one that brings together two well-recognised families in Indian society.

Arjun, the left-arm pacer, continues to develop his cricketing career. He currently represents Goa in domestic cricket, showing promise with both the ball and the bat. In 17 First-Class matches, he has taken 37 wickets and scored 532 runs, demonstrating his all-round potential. In the shorter formats, Arjun has featured in 24 T20s, picking up 27 wickets, while in List A cricket he has played 18 games, claiming 25 wickets.

He also made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians in 2023, playing four matches and securing three wickets. However, opportunities remained limited the following year, with him featuring in just one game without success.
