Former England spin-bowling all-rounder Moeen Ali and England’s premier white-ball spinner Adil Rashid have made their predictions for the next big four in cricket. In their list, both Moeen and Rashid included the likes of England’s white-ball captain Harry Brook, India’s Test captain Shubman Gill and opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, but for the fourth one, Moeen picked Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand, whereas Rashid voted for England’s Jacob Bethell.
Brook has played 30 Tests, 29 ODIs and 47 T20Is for England since making his international debut in January 2022 and has scored 2820, 947 and 873 runs, respectively. On the other hand, Gill has 2647, 2775 and 578 runs in 37 Tests, 55 ODIs and 21 T20Is, respectively.
Meanwhile, Jaiswal has amassed a total of 2209 runs in 24 Tests, 723 runs in 23 T20Is and 15 runs in one ODI played so far.

“Brook, Gill, Jaiswal… I would Bethell. In the next five or six years he will be there,” Rashid said on the Beard Before Wicket podcast.
“A lot of people know that he (Bethell) has not scored a 100 in any professional cricket, but it’s the way he bats. His issue is going to be actually a bit of injuries. He gets injured a lot. He is a very naturally talented, gifted player. He has got good power. I like his technique,” Moeen said.
“So three (Brook, Gill, and Jaiswal) are there, and I am going to go with Ravindra, and I am going to go with Bethell at 5,” Moeen added.
21-year-old Bethell has played four Tests, 12 ODIs and 13 T20Is for England so far and has 271, 317 and 281 runs, respectively, to his name in addition to taking 14 wickets across formats. The left-handed batter will also captain the English team in three T20Is against Ireland next month.
On the other hand, Rachin has played 17 Tests, 33 ODIs and 30 T20Is for the Kiwis and has scored 1224, 1233 and 452 runs, respectively. In the 2023 ODI World Cup, he scored more than 500 runs for the Kane Williamson-led side and played a big role in his team’s memorable 3-0 Test series win in India.
