Zakir Khan was born on August 20, 1987, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, where his family was connected with music. His grandfather, Ustad Moinuddin Khan, was a renowned sarangi player, while his father, Ismail Khan, worked as a music teacher. Zakir also followed the family’s footsteps in his early years by learning classical music and even completing a diploma in sitar. While music was his initial dream, life took him towards comedy.
Zakir left college midway and decided to take a chance on stand-up comedy. His breakthrough came in 2012 when he won Comedy Central’s India’s Best Stand Up Comedian. From there, his journey only grew bigger due to his ability to mix humour with honesty and emotion.

August 2025 became special for Zakir Khan and his fans when he became the first Indian comedian to perform a Hindi show at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden. He entertained 6000 people and described the sold-out show as an unforgettable experience. But this wasn’t his first record-breaking moment. In 2023, Zakir became the first Asian comedian to perform a solo show at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Alongside these shows, he has also delivered several blockbuster specials on Amazon Prime Video, including Haq Se Single, Kaksha Gyarvi, Tathastu, Mannpasand and Delulu Express.
