Android 16 and other versions are facing new security issues and the Indian government is warning users about it.

The Indian govt has issued another big hacking threat for Android users
Android 16 running on Samsung’s new phones along with millions of Android 15 devices have got a major security alert from the Indian government this week. The new risk alert comes via the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) this month where it says the issues can allow attackers to gain sensitive information, and cause denial of service conditions on the targeted system.
Once again, the security issue is linked to a host of manufacturers who have a big role in developing the Android phones, and any threat to them will have a direct impact on the consumers.
The new security warning is a major concern because not only it affects the older Android versions, but the latest one as well, which is currently available with a limited set of devices from brands like Samsung. Having any issues with Android security puts all manufacturers at risk, and the details from the government gives us a clear idea about the risks and its possible impact.
Android Security Issue: What’s The Matter?
The CERT-In bulletin on Android security dated August 21, 2025 comes with a high severity rating. It says, “These vulnerabilities exist in Android due to flaws in the Framework, System, Kernel, Arm components, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek components, Qualcomm components and Qualcomm closed-source components.”
These are some of the biggest names in the Android segment, making phones across different prices. The vulnerabilities in these many hardware brands will have hackers rubbing their hands in glee, looking to exploit the issues and making the consumers pay the price for it.
Who Is At Risk?
The security bulletin clearly puts all Android phone brands and users of these phones at risk and could be targeted by the attackers. These users could be prone to device intrusion that can compromise their system and allow them to access personal data and even steal money.
What Has Android Said About The Issues?
The good people over at Android have addressed and fixed the security issues highlighted by the government and it has mentioned them in a detailed bulletin for August 2025 over here.
The company says security patch levels of 2025-08-05 or later addresses all the vulnerabilities that have been reported about Android devices. So, Android is asking you to check the version running on your phone and install the latest August 2025 security patch to keep your device safe. Brands like Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Vivo and among others are working on their security updates and these are/should be available to the users.
