Thomas Cook partners with Mastercard for contactless payments on forex cards via Google Pay


Thomas Cook (India) has partnered with Mastercard to allow contactless cross-border payments using Google Pay on its range of prepaid forex cards. The initiative is aimed at simplifying overseas transactions for Indian travellers and reducing the need to carry physical cards.

The contactless feature is available on Thomas Cook’s Borderless Travel, One Currency, Study Buddy, and EnterpriseFX cards, and can be used for accommodation, transport, dining, shopping, and other payments abroad.

Customers need to add their forex cards to Google Pay, enabling transactions at more than 270 million Mastercard merchant locations worldwide.

Deepesh Varma, Executive Vice President – Foreign Exchange at Thomas Cook (India), said the initiative addresses the demand for digital solutions for overseas payments.

Ravi Datla, Senior Vice President at Mastercard South Asia, noted that the move provides a tokenized and contactless payment option for travellers.
