The elevated metro line is 15.31 kilometres long and is being developed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). It will cut JVLR travel time by 30–45 minutes. At least 30% of road traffic is expected to be redistributed to the metro along the JVLR, reducing congestion and pollution.

How far has Mumbai Metro-6 reached?
As of late 2024, the project is about 66% complete, Times Now reported. As per the officials, 71% of the viaduct work is completed, while 52% of the station work is accomplished.
Train and Operations:
The line will use 108 metro cars, forming 6-coach trains. CBTC signalling will allow trains to run more efficiently. Trains will run from 6 am to 10 pm.
Frequency:
Peak: 5-7 minutes
Off peak: 8-10 minutes
Mumbai Metro-6 tickets:
It will use the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system: smart cards and QR code tokens. Likely fares: ₹10 (≤ 2 km), ₹20 (2–5 km), ₹30 (5–12 km), ₹40 (12–18 km), and ₹50 (18–24 km)
