Sensex Today: Equity benchmarks BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 began Tuesday’s session on a muted note, with no major market-moving cues.
The Sensex rose 82 points, or 0.10%, to 81,355 in early trade, while the Nifty50 added 26 points, or 0.11%, to 24,906.
In the broader market, both the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap indices edged higher by 0.2% each.
Global Cues
Asian markets were trading lower on Tuesday, following overnight weakness on Wall Street. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was down 0.14%, while South Korea’s KOSPI slipped 0.54%.
After his White House meeting, Zelensky signaled readiness to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin directly in a bid to end the conflict.
In the US, equity markets ended largely flat as investors awaited major retail earnings and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s speech at the annual Jackson Hole summit. The S&P 500 closed marginally lower, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.07%.
